This year LRFS will be proudly supporting two very important charities, ‘Dementia UK’ and ‘Leeds Mind’. LRFS18 is not just about putting on an amazing show – it’s about raising awareness and money for these great causes!
Dementia UK not only helps people living with Dementia, but also provides much needed practical and emotional support to the families that care for them. Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses use their expertise and experience to assist patients and carers to help bring the positivity and confidence needed to overcome the challenges that Dementia brings to everyday life.
With a focus on empowerment, Dementia UK aims to meet the individual needs of each family affected by dementia and to ensure that they receive the best available care and support. The money we raise will help Dementia UK to increase the number of Admiral nurses across the UK.
In the UK 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year, and 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week.
The aim of Leeds Mind’s work is to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives.
Leeds Mind promotes positive mental health and wellbeing, providing help and support to those who need it. They offer many services, including: counselling, group therapy, social support, peer support, self-directed support, social prescribing, housing support, employment support, suicide bereavement support, and mental health training.
